SCINTILLATION
(a twinkling of stars, a flash of light or spark)

Inspired by the flamenco dance, this fully circular skirt will swirl with movement, the overlaying scarves showing glimpses of gold underneath. The bodice is off one shoulder and a grid of braid on the left side has a zip along the seam for easy dressing.  The right side has various motifs drawn by hand on a double layer of satin, their edges satin-stitched by machine.  The outer motifs are highlighted by a hand-stitched edging simulating beading.  This was made by using three threads on an overlocker set for a rolled hem, with golden knitting and red crochet threads in the upper and lower loopers and red sewing thread in the right needle. Small gold beads were added by hand to the central motifs.

Scintillation was exhibited in Perth Western Australia in August 2015 at the Craft Show Art to Wear
Exhibition.
